Our bathroom renovation Sydney process
We have an easy four-step process that we use with each bathroom renovation we take on. Whether it’s in a domestic or commercial setting, our process remains largely unchanged because it delivers the results that our customers have come to expect. Our process steps are as follows:
1. Consultation
The first step in our four step process is to call Star Ceramics on 02 9580 8777 and book a time and day for a free onsite consultation.
This process will grant us an overall outlook of the space, combined with the client’s feedback on the renovation needs our team will obtain a visual concept of what our client desire from their renovation. We discuss all bathroom needs, functionality and visual look and feel of the upcoming bathroom.
We aim to offer the best in customer service, we will endeavour to answer all questions and concerns and provide all the helpful advice. In conclusion together we will agree on bathroom vision to move forward.
2a. Quotation on build
Once we’ve completed the onsite consultation and we have a clear vison of the layout and the conclusive design, we will use all the information we gathered and generate a comprehensive build quote at competitive rates. Our clients get a detailed breakdown of the job quotation that is valid for up to seven months.
2b. Quotation on personal choice items
Before we can begin the bathroom renovation all product choices must be selected. On approval of the build quotation we will organise a personal choice selection. For your convenience Star Ceramics has a bathroom supercentre with a large collection of bathroom tiles and bathroom products on display. If we don’t have a particular product on display we will source it in.
Once all product choice items have been selected we will provide you with a personal choice quotation. On purchase we will have all items available and ready to install when needed. This way we expect no delays or product unavailability.
3. We have lift off! Begin the renovation
When our clients sign off on the go-ahead, and we establish a built date, we will be on time, if not, early to begin the build.
We’ll bring in our talented, experienced and professional team to get the job done correctly and efficiently. No-matter the budget we use the best known industry materials for a lasting product.
During the build on a daily basis we will keep the area clean and safe. The lines of communication will be open 24/7, so expect regular progress updates.
4. Project completion
Horay!! No tools in sight. All mess cleared and taken away. New Bathroom Delivered! We hand over the keys, you turn on the water..
For peace of mind our build comes with a 6yr warranty*. Personal choice items come with their own warranty, duration depending on the brand and product type.
Tips to consider when designing a small bathroom space
When planning a smaller sized bathroom renovation or a bathroom makeover, smart use of space will determine if the end result is a success or not. To assist we have written a list of tips and tricks that we know will benefit your conceptual design process.
Install a sliding bathroom entry door
Sliding bathroom entry doors can be customised to any size and you will find a collection of appealing styles to compliment any bathroom design. Yes! The main function of a sliding door is to save space, and we agree with the space you save, is the space you gain.
In our opinion sliding doors do so much more. Floor to ceiling sliding doors create a sense of openness. Sliding doors that recess into the wall cavity create sense a fluidness. As a seamless transition, to welcomes once space with the another. Yet when closed these doors provide the privacy you need.
Add a skylight within your bathroom
The natural light added within the room worth it! It’s that simple. So many benefits, these include;
- Great airflow if you opt for an opening skylight. Combined with the bathroom exhaust fan, a skylight results in an added barrier in resisting mould growth.
- Less artificial light and more natural light. Definitely a mood lifter
- Looks great, very plush and adds value to your bathroom
- Permits a small space with added depth
- A pleasant view of the outdoors.
Although the benefits are plentiful positioning a skylight in the correct position within the bathroom is important. Best to consult with a professional.
Bathroom tiles
Using large bathroom tiles will make a small bathroom appear larger and roomier. This works as the streamline effect of large tiles allow the illusion of increased space. In addition, the other advantage to using larger tiles in your bathrooms is the use of less grout. Grout is not the easiest surface to clean, therefore the less grout the easier the clean will be.
Bathroom fixtures
Suspended fixtures will make a small bathroom floor space appear bigger. Suspended fixtures to consider are wall mount vanities, wall mount basins and possibly suspended toilets. Another element in design to consider is accurate sized fixtures. Ideally the smaller the bathroom space, look for a collection of more petite fixtures. Avoid forcing oversized vanities or basins in small spaces. Nobody desires to sit on a cramped toilet or shower in a narrow shower space, all because you decided to go for a larger vanity unit. Don’t get me wrong, we all love maximum storage, but only if the space allows. Use space wisely but try to be practical.
A good idea to iron out bathroom design errors would be to use electric tape and mark out the precise dimensions of your bathroom space in your much larger living room or garage. Use the accurate dimension as a visual walk in. Add cardboard boxes to mark the toilet, vanity and bath. This will help confirm what works and what does not. These handy techniques will provide a clear perspective to help finalise the design of your small bathroom space.
Shower screens
Whether it be an enclosed shower screen or a frameless shower panel this handy piece of glass not only will it look stunning, it will prevent water from splashing all over your confined bathroom floors and walls. Water is a bit of an enemy to certain products such as a vanity unit, mirror or mirror cabinet and daily repetitive water splashing will damage any unit over a short period of time, and with small bathrooms water does not have to travel too far to hit everything in sight.
For the added safety of a dry bathroom floor, to prevent an annoyingly drenched floor rug and for the protection of your bathroom goods do not cut corners with your shower screen. Not only will a shower screen out perform any curtain. They are made of toughened durable glass, you will find them easy to clean, glass allows natural light to pass through and are customisable to suite all shower and bath spaces.

Baths
Baths that are created to fit flush against the wall are ideal for small bathrooms. Typically, a selection of inset baths or multi-purpose free standing corner baths. These baths are available in various sizes, standard sizing ranges from 1200-1900mm. It is always advised to use a shower screen if these baths are to be used as a bath/shower combo.
The ideal position for a bath in a small bathroom would be positioned from the wall furthest from the bathroom entry door. Depending on the bath you select, even though compact, many baths are quite fashionable and an instant eye pleaser. Compliment this with a gorgeously tiles feature wall directly above the bath and you have yourself a golden bathroom centrepiece.
Discuss your purpose and budget with your bathroom renovator to see if an inset bath or a multi-purpose corner bath is for you.
Large bathroom mirrors
It is a fact that mirror’s do help small spaces look bigger, and using a large mirror in a small bathroom space will out-perform the use if a smaller mirror. It is important to consider that many bathroom mirrors come with cabinet storage, do choose a mirror that you can maximise its use. Whether your bathroom is big or small you can never not have enough storage space.
Mirror to consider? Frameless mirrors execute the look of simplicity to perfection, frameless bathroom mirrors screams minimalism. Faultless for modern and contemporary bathroom designs.
What more can I get from my mirror? If you are looking to add a little x-factor, a positive wow effect to your small bathroom design. An LED light up mirror will greatly enhance the bathroom experience. LED bathroom mirrors are durable, certain models offer an anti-fog feature, they are great energy savers and overall offer a comfortable lighting experience. This notable product can truly add value to your bathroom space!
